Windows Support

Windows is the most popular desktop operating system, ahead of Linux and macOS in terms of market share.

People love Windows because it is a stable and easy-to-use operating system.

This doesn’t come as a surprise since Windows has been around for almost 4 decades.

Despite being a mature operating system, users still face a couple of issues while using their Windows PCs.

If you are having issues with your Windows machine, this article is for you.

We will discuss some of the common issues in Windows and how you can fix them.

We shall also share with you how we can help you if you are stuck with any of the issues we are about to share.

Computer Boots Slowly

Now that we have much faster CPUs and storage drives, booting your computer should take about 5 to 30 seconds.

At worst it shouldn’t go beyond one minute, for those still using machines with HDDs.

If you notice a significant lag whenever your computer is booting, then there are a couple of things you can do to fix that.

Some of these include;

  • Limiting the number of apps that boot at startup. To do this; open your task manager, click the startup tab and then disable the apps that you don’t need to use immediately after booting your machine.
  • Check for malware. Sometimes your computer may slow down due to malware that executes lots of background activities hence reducing the hardware resources that the most important tasks are meant to use. Open your Windows Defender app or any other third-party application and scan for malware.
  • Make sure your storage drive has enough space: Not having enough space is another reason that could slow down your computer. Having at least 25% free space on your storage drive will ensure excellent performance.

Files Open In The Wrong Apps

Everyone has the ideal app that they would want certain files to be open from.

For example, I personally open most of my video files using VLC instead of Microsoft’s built-in media player.

If you are having issues opening files from the apps of your choice, Windows gives you the option to change the default app for opening the different kinds of files.

To change this default app, simply click the startup menu and choose Settings.

Under settings click the system tab.

You should then look for the category labeled “Default apps”.

Under default apps, you will find the option of changing the default app for the different file categories on your computer.

BlueTooth Related Issues

If you cannot successfully connect external Bluetooth devices or share files to your computer via Bluetooth, there are several things you can do to fix this problem.

Most of the time Bluetooth problems are caused by drivers or Windows issues.

The first thing you need to do if you encounter Bluetooth-related issues is to restart your computer and all your Bluetooth devices.

You should also make sure Bluetooth is turned on both your computer and the devices you intend to connect to.

To turn on Bluetooth on your Windows machine, go to

Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth

and turn it on.

If this doesn’t work try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Bluetooth drivers and then reboot the computer.

You also need to make sure Airplane mode is turned off for any of the above solutions to work.

Printer Cannot Connect

Printer issues are some of the most common problems reported on most Windows forums.

If your printer can’t connect to your computer, several reasons lead to that.

One of the common ones is not having the printer drivers installed on your computer.

To get the printer drivers, simply check its model name and download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

For instance, if you are having issues with a printer like the HP DeskJet 2710e, you will find its drivers on HP’s official website.

Make sure you download the drivers that are recommended for your current operating system.

After having the drivers installed, add the printer to your connected devices by going to

Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.

Click Add a printer or scanner and then choose your printer from the list of printers shown.

Cannot Update To The Latest Version Of Windows

So, many people are having issues updating their machines from Windows 10 to 11.

If you are one of them, there are a couple of things you can do to fix this issue.

First of all, make sure your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements for installing Windows 11 before you trigger the upgrade.

Use Microsoft’s PC Health check app to find out if your machine meets the minimum requirements.

If your machine meets the requirements, make sure you are connected to stable WiFi or mobile data before you trigger the update.

It is also best to do the update when you are not using the machine to avoid having so many apps competing for your internet’s bandwidth.
